Apartments Amabilis

The weekend got a bit hectic, and the staff seemed overwhelmed. The hotel has expanded this season and may still be finding its feet with the bigger number of guests. I’m confident they’ll get it sorted soon. From arrival, things went really well. The receptionist was welcoming and kind, and gave us a free early check-in, which we appreciated since the hotel was quite full. The rest of the staff were friendly, helpful, and available whenever we needed something. Breakfast was tasty and came with a beautiful view. There wasn’t a huge buffet selection, but being able to order what you wanted made up for that. We also had lunch a few times at the beach restaurant. The food was excellent and the prices very fair, definitely worth trying. We had a great experience and would happily return.

The restaurant was the one real disappointment. There was only one waiter covering all the tables. He was working his fingers to the bone, but service was slow and a bit chaotic. He needed more help, and the wine selection was poor. The hotel sits in a lovely spot by a pebble beach, with beautiful views. The all-white look is gorgeous, though at times it feels a little stark. The pool and facilities were excellent, and the staff were great. They also helped us out when we ran into trouble with our upcoming travel plans. Despite the restaurant, we had a great stay.

The beach is quite small, so it felt very crowded. Still, our stay at Amabilis Hotel was outstanding. Every room faces the Adriatic, so you can enjoy the sun all day, and the sea view is really special. The terrace was the standout for us. We had breakfast and dinner there, eating good seafood while watching the sunset.

The rooms were clean, the beach was nice, and the staff were good. Breakfast, though, fell well short of five-star standard. There wasn’t much choice, and the food quality left a lot to be desired. Some nuts were rancid, and the poppy seed cake wasn’t fresh. The next day I spotted what looked like the same product on special offer at the Spar store next door. ;) We got a burger for lunch at the beach bar, and the meat seemed obviously frozen, with the middle only lukewarm. We didn’t have dinner. It wouldn’t take much to bring the place up to five stars.
