Bura 45 Boutique Hotel

For 110 euros, the cheapest room in the off season, this was a very disappointing stay. The room was tiny, with a little desk but no chair. There was nowhere useful in the bathroom to leave our toiletry bag, so it had to stay in the bedroom and I kept going back and forth for things. There was no toilet paper holder either, just a shelf. Half the towel rack was inside the shower, so the doors couldn't close all the way. The towel got soaked and water spilled onto the bathroom floor. The wall-mounted toilet was set unbelievably high. At 185 cm, I could only touch the floor with my toes, so anyone shorter would probably have their feet dangling. The door didn't sit flush against its frame, and we heard everyone passing in the hallway. Then the maid started making noise out there at 0800, so we couldn't sleep any longer. Breakfast was self-service from 07 till 10. We went down at 0920, and the hot-food dish had one fried egg, three small pieces of sausage, and some sort of sautéed vegetable mix all piled together. A couple of empty baskets nearby suggested there had been baked goods or bread, but no staff member came to see whether anything needed refilling while we were there. When we complained at reception later, the receptionist said, "you should have said something to the waiters". We hadn't seen any waiters until we were leaving. At 10.40, after breakfast, reception called to ask why we hadn't checked out and whether we wanted to pay for another night. I've stayed in hotels in many countries, but I've never seen one where guests are expected to check out by 1000. Google Maps lists it as a 3 star hotel, while the building and reception display 4 stars. I looked up the rating standards afterward, and it barely seems to meet them. They'd need a very good lawyer to prove it in court.
