Hotel Zovko

It's 4:14 a.m. and we're leaving. The bass and loud music had the room shaking, and doors were banging while people made noise all night. We couldn't sleep after work, with a six-hour drive to the Czech Republic ahead. This has happened before. Last time at this hotel. 😡

After a long journey, this was a terrible place to arrive at. Both rooms smelled unpleasant, the blankets were stuffed into the cabinets without covers, and there were hardly any personal care products. The rooms were old and clearly needed renovation. The air conditioning didn't work, leaving the rooms very hot, and its noise only made things worse. The Wi-Fi didn't work at all, and there was no safe for valuables. The bathroom was in poor shape too. The shower head was broken and detached from the wall, and the holes were dirty. The shower cabin was broken, so water ended up all over the bathroom. The toilet was squeezed close to the wall with a radiator right beside it, making it uncomfortable and almost impossible to sit down. The sockets were broken, which made charging our phones feel dangerous. The facilities don't work as promised. Definitely not a four-star hotel, maybe two stars at best.

We slept like babies and ate like kings. Lidia at reception was so friendly and welcoming, and the bed was really comfortable. The hotel is just an eight-minute ride from the airport. My husband and I had a lovely stay, felt welcomed like family, and will recommend it to our family and friends. :)

The air conditioning was the main problem at the wedding we attended at Hotel Zovko. It got very hot quite quickly. They said there was an issue with the system, though I think they may simply have started it too late. The staff were quick and did their best, but were sweating without air conditioning. The wedding itself was great and the place looked beautiful. It's just outside Zagreb, so getting there was quick and free of traffic jams. Everything else was okay, not perfect, but a passing three-star experience. ☺️
