Apartments Kokolo

The bed was comfortable, but I was disappointed as soon as I arrived. The listing gave a misleading impression. My ground-floor room faced straight onto the street, so the shutters had to stay closed and it was very, very dark, with just two ceiling lights. The kitchen was tiny, with two burners and a small fridge. The shower was small, and there was no hot water left after one shower. The toilet faced the bed and its door wouldn't shut, so there was no privacy at all. There was a small bar right across the way, plus noise from the fridge and the pipes. The entrance door was only about thirty centimeters from the building's front door. There was no view and no privacy from the neighboring windows. The description mentions a shower or bath, but there are only small showers. The listing left me with a strong sense that it wasn't being honest.

The bed was comfortable, and the location in central Šibenik was the one real plus. For what it costs, though, I've stayed in better places, and I wouldn't recommend this apartment. We'd pictured a romantic getaway in a lovely apartment, but the photos didn't match what we found. It's on the ground floor of a small street, with no real privacy or soundproofing. We heard people outside and neighbors in the hallway all night. The kitchenette was too limited for proper cooking, and there weren't even two different glasses. The TV was awkwardly placed on a wall parallel to the bed, behind the only sofa, and the Wi-Fi kept cutting out. The shower was dirty, with black grout and rot on the ceiling. It ran out of hot water after five minutes, and the towels were rough and had holes. The toilet sits at the foot of the bed, and its door doesn't close fully. Sleep was also interrupted by the fridge making a terrible noise every half hour and by pipes in the wall beside the stove.

The owner was very friendly, and the apartment is in a nice spot in the city center. Getting there by car isn't possible, though, so we had to unload on the busy street next door. Parking is about a 15-minute walk away. Cleanliness was an issue: there were cleaning cloths in the fridge, dirty dishes in the sink, and leftover washing powder in the machine. We also didn't get enough blankets or towels, just three sheets for six people. There were no toiletries, the soap dispenser was broken, and there was barely any toilet paper, despite these things being advertised online.

The landlord lives upstairs on the second floor, and the apartment is in a house converted for this use. I stayed in winter and found it cold. The heater couldn't warm the whole space because the house's structure let in a strong draft. Hot water also stopped temporarily while the boiler was in use, which was frustrating. The Wi-Fi signal was weak too, so a repeater might help.
