Apartments Marina

Apartment Marina made a comfortable home for our 14 nights in Šibenik. It’s a convenient base for the city and central Dalmatia, though there are prettier locations. The apartment and facilities were good quality, and we couldn’t fault Marina and her family’s kindness. Our ground-floor, two-bedroom apartment was spacious and comfortable. The terrace was a lively place to sit by candlelight in the evening. The air conditioning worked well, and the kitchen had enough equipment for breakfast, packed lunches, and some dinners. Fresh, good-quality towels and bed linen were provided, along with a very good washing machine and places to dry clothes. There wasn’t a nice view from the apartment, and there was some road noise, but it always had a space outside for our hire car. The pool, terraces, and garden were a lovely place to sunbathe and cool off. There were plenty of loungers, seats, and shady spots. The area was enclosed and safe for young children, and Marina’s son and mother-in-law kept it immaculate each day. We didn’t use the barbecue, but it looked great. We loved the high-quality bean-to-cup coffee machine outside, with milk and sugar supplied. Marina welcomed us with a bottle of local wine and some homegrown potatoes from her friends. She was an effervescent host, always happy to offer useful advice about the area. Any questions we had about the apartment were dealt with efficiently, without her ever imposing on us. There are two decent supermarkets within walking distance, one five minutes away and the other 15. There’s also a bus stop just outside. Once we knew our way around, it took about 20 minutes to walk to the seafront and cafés, then another 10 to 20 minutes to reach Šibenik’s main historic and shopping areas. For a nice evening half-hour walk, head up the hill opposite the apartment to watch the sunset over Šibenik and the islands. We explored Šibenik and the surrounding area every day. We strongly recommend the local free guide brochure ‘Šibenik in your pocket’ for finding your way around. It’s a beautiful, fascinating area with too many lovely highlights to mention. We stayed at the end of August and start of September, when the main tourist season was winding down and the hot summer had cooled to around 30 degrees, which suited us well. We only stayed one night, which was a shame. The apartment was really big, with modern furniture, air conditioning, and large windows that made the living room bright. There’s a pool downstairs that you can use anytime. I can definitely recommend this place.

The owner was super friendly and helpful. The room and bathroom were both big, and the kids liked the pool so much they didn’t want to go to the beach.

The apartments feel like home to us. Marina is a wonderful host, and the garden has a lovely pool.
