Hostel Mare

I was traveling by motorcycle and could leave it across the street from the hotel without any problem, though it wasn’t indoors. I really enjoyed my three days here. The hostel owners were welcoming and friendly, and it felt like a little home away from home. The town is lovely and really comes alive at night, with lots of places to go for a drink.

I’d confirmed my booking five months ahead, but on the day I was due to arrive, Hostel Mare called around noon. I couldn’t pick up because I had no reception. By 12:30 they told me they’d given my room to someone else. The way they handled it was bad enough, and the customer service was extremely rude. They told me not to “be a cheap American and get a SIM card for my phone” and to “shut my mouth” when I tried to explain that I had a booking. It was a horrible experience, and I wouldn’t recommend staying here.

The rooms and bathroom were very clean, and the place has such a good vibe. It’s perfectly located for the centre. They even left a birthday gift on my bed while I was there. Can’t praise the service enough, thanks Hostel Mare 😁

This was one of the worst hostels I’ve stayed at. A few things that made it that way: the couple running it were unfriendly, and there was no kitchen. The only fridge in the whole hostel was barely big enough for two people. The shower, which was meant to be shared by ten, didn’t work. They also weren’t truthful about card payment; I understood the issue, but they still weren’t friendly about it.
