Guest House Ankora

The owner was genuine and kind, and Guest House Ankora gave us memories we'll never forget. He spotted our car while riding his bike and quickly guided us to the guest house, tucked down a small street that's a bit hard to find. The place was very clean and nice, and the parking area was beautiful, with a large anchor off to the side. You could tell he loved his family and had a good heart. Before we went out for dinner, he offered us some strawberry cake and said he could put some in our room fridge. That was our dessert that night. He also gave us helpful information and let us leave our car after checkout while we went to Krka. Someone stole my camera in Rome, so I can't show all the beautiful pictures I took. I'd love to return and stay longer. With my daughter's disabilities and our own aging bodies, I don't think we could make that trip across the world again, but those good memories will stay. Really nice people.

The ground-floor room is nice, though there wasn't anything especially memorable about it. The building has a few details on the ceiling, but otherwise I didn't get a sense of the old town or being by the sea. That's subjective, but I don't like modern furniture in a building in a world-famous old town. If you're bringing a caravan or a larger car, parking is a problem. Other guests pass right by the room, so there was noise from doors and windows banging and children. The jacuzzi is small, only fits a few people, and was never free because children seemed to be in it all day. The room costs a lot, but there was no peace or privacy because of the noisy young families. It felt like a money-making operation without a soul, apart from the exterior. We don't drink alcohol, but the welcome seemed to be limited to a glass of brandy and beer, which I don't consider a positive or noteworthy thing. Guests staying fewer than five nights don't get care or recommendations from the landlord beyond the most expensive restaurants, which aren't good enough for those high prices. Go to Sibenik!

The communal kitchen outside, beside the hot tub, was a nice feature, and the owner was really friendly. Skradin is special, and this guest house is a real gem. We'd definitely come back.

Sadly, heavy rain meant Krka NP was closed during our stay, but the host suggested some other nice sights after walking us through the park entrances and things to see. We were greeted with wonderful hospitality when we arrived. The room was very nice and clean, parking was available, and there was a jacuzzi to use. The owner also let us taste his homemade rose spirits, which were great. Strongly recommend!
