Camping Paklenica

It's a good camp, and everything is clean and tidy, though the wifi could be better. The beach is relatively small for the number of guests the camp can accommodate. The camp is right by the sea and beach, next to another camp and a hotel surrounded by a fence, which is the only downside.

We had to wait until 8 to enter the camp. The toilets are clean, and in the pre-season it isn't that expensive. The beach isn't anything special, but it's a good starting point for heading to Paklenica canyon.

The setting is lovely, with plenty of trees even by the beach, and the rocky shore gives easy access to clean water. We stayed for nearly two weeks in August. The toilets and showers were kept very clean, and there were summer activities for children and Wi-Fi throughout the campsite. The pool area let things down. There are two pools, one for kids and one larger, and while the water looked clear, sand, paper and pine needles often collected on the bottom. Reception couldn't say whether or when the pools were cleaned. After ten days, the pool steps were damaged, and none of the four showers beside the pool worked. Sunbeds and umbrellas were available, but without a shower near the sandy volleyball court, kids rinsed off in the pool. Staff also didn't make sure quiet hours were followed. I'd suggest adding a shower by the court. With better attention to the pools and facilities, this could be a solid four-star campsite. As it is, I'd put it around 3.5 stars. I mean the campsite rating, not the Google rating.

We returned with our six-year-old after staying here last year, and this time had a newer, better-standard Superior cabin (4+2). Our first visit had been quiet and peaceful, with lots of families, which is why we came back. This year started out the same until a large group of young people, at least five or six cabins, were placed all around us. They were very loud and changed the whole feel of the place. We were offered another cabin, but that would have separated us from our friends. I don't understand why such a noisy group would be put among families with children. After that, I couldn't really call the place family-friendly anymore.
