Guesthouse Aurora

We ate at the restaurant twice, and I could write a lot, but I’ll keep it short. On the first night, the octopus salad was okay, nothing special, and we ordered a cold fish plate for two. Instead, the waiter brought a huge plate with two large fish, tuna steaks, and scampi. Friends had joined us, so we didn’t say anything and decided to eat it. The scampi smelled awful. When we complained, the waiter admitted, “Oh, you can really smell this,” but then said it was because the grill they were cooked on was dirty. Most of the fish plate went untouched because everything smelled of scampi. We got no apology or discount, and paid €120. We went back the second time for the live music, since the place is small and there aren’t many events. We ordered the cold fish plate again because it had been really tasty last year, but were disappointed. The tuna pâté had no taste, and the cheese was almost inedible. With two plates we got only a couple pieces of bread, and had to ask for more. At first we weren’t given any. We also had to ask for plates, napkins, and knives. The tablecloths were dirty, there was no olive oil, salt, or pepper on the table, and we got water glasses even though we were drinking wine while other guests had wine glasses. We waited more than half an hour just to be served at all. The waiter was helpful and polite, but I was embarrassed to keep calling him over. As usual, the bill was very high and totally out of proportion to the service. I’d avoid this place. We’re definitely not coming back.
