The prices felt too high for what the campsite offered, and much of the ground was muddy. The toilets and showers were very dirty, and the market shop had food past its date. We stayed one night and were sent to look for a pitch marked on the camp map. We came back to reception with three empty-looking options, but were told none was vacant, then staff chose one for us.

The best parts for us were the sea and the family activities. Camping Park Umag sits right by the water, with rocky shoreline spots for snorkeling and lovely sunrise views. My niece loved the kids’ club, and Simona, one of the animators, spoke Italian and helped her feel comfortable. Milijana also sorted out my booking dates, which I appreciated. There are several pools, evening shows, shops, restaurants, walking space, and quieter corners away from the busiest areas. The glamping tents were comfortable, and most places were reasonably clean, though we did run into cleanliness issues with curtains and bedding in some mobile homes or tents. Some sanitary blocks looked old or weren’t kept especially neat, and a broken fixture wasn’t replaced quickly. The campsite is huge, so getting from a faraway pitch or tent to the beach, showers, or restaurant can mean a lot of walking, especially with young children or older people. In high season the pools fill up and noise travels. A nearby bar played loud music late one night, so an early night wasn’t possible. Some staff were kind and helpful, but we also encountered unhelpful receptionists and delays when trying to solve problems. Little annoyances pile up when people are too busy or inattentive. Prices were another frustration: the restaurants and supermarket cost a lot, and extras such as WiFi quality and some services didn’t feel included. At times it seemed the location was what we were paying for, rather than consistently smooth service. I would return, but I’d try to book close to the sea, pools, and restaurants, and go a little outside peak season. I’d bring earplugs and perhaps some supplies because things on site can be expensive. It isn’t a boutique escape, and not everything was perfect, but the setting, friendly moments, and sea gave us some lovely holiday memories, like kids laughing in the pool at sunset and an early morning swim.

The pool and the sea were both close to our pitch, and the campground has shops and restaurants on site, though shopping in town is definitely cheaper. Facilities are decent and it’s a good campsite, but some pitches have almost no shade. A few also made me wonder whether anyone had cleared away the roots or stumps before offering them for rent.

The beaches are rocky, but beautiful, and the water temperature was perfect. The place was clean and tidy, with plenty to do across several Camping Resorts, and we found everything we needed there. Umag is nearby for groceries and clothes. Shops and restaurants at the campsite cost a little more, but that seemed fair. I’ve stayed at a lot of Camping Resorts, and this is one of the best. The kids loved it and want to come back. Some of the low ratings seem to come from individual issues that aren’t significant.

We’ll definitely be back. It’s a lovely campsite for families, with helpful, friendly staff and everything you need for a holiday. The two big pool areas work for both children and adults. The beach is lovely too, though the water is rocky, so bring swimming shoes. It’s worth looking underwater: we saw fish in all sorts of colors, and you might even be lucky enough to spot a turtle.
