The views are lovely, and there’s plenty of parking nearby for 1e a day. The food was good enough, too, and drinks are included with breakfast, lunch, and dinner, including red and white wine and beer. Staff were really friendly and spoke English, so getting around was easy. The rooms were nice and clean, with no complaints from me there. It’s a place that feels like it may have had its heyday in Yugoslavia, so if you’re after a trip back 50 years, it fits. The cheap price makes it a great deal. Just know there’s no AC, so an afternoon in the room can feel like sitting in a sauna. Hot water can also run low on the higher floors during busy hours because of the pressure. I was on level 7 and had to wait to shower after coming in during the afternoon.

The location is superb, and breakfast was really good, with lots of choices and a great view. Parking is free, and the rooms are very spacious. We were only two, but got two extra beds too, for a surprisingly cheap price. The staff made the stay. Lucija at reception, her coworker, and the housekeeping ladies were all wonderful. After my knee operation, I couldn’t manage the stairs, and the elevator was crowded on a busy Saturday with guests checking in and out. The housekeepers kindly let us use the staff elevator. Sandra in the breakfast room was also so nice and showed us the famous view from the hotel’s 8th floor. The cooks and waiters were great as well. Five stars for everyone. I loved the rustic wooden architecture, with its stylish old-time feel. The hotel has frescoes from the 1960s, a big pool, game rooms with an old-fashioned billiards table, a large rustic fireplace, crown moldings, and an outside bar terrace where we relaxed every day. The beaches feel a little dated compared with the hotel, but that didn’t change how happy we were with our stay. We heard a rumor that the hotel had an old secret room belonging to former Yugoslavian leader Josip Broz Tito, supposedly used for his night adventures in Umag. We didn’t find it or get to see it, but we’ll be back next year and will try again. Huge credit to the director for running this place and staff with so much heart. I hope they keep it in its original form.

It’s got a great vibe, with an old-fashioned look mixed with pop art details in the bar. The view is the best, and the billiards bar is really cool. This is the coolest hotel around. It’s more about the atmosphere than luxury.

The hotel has what you need for a vacation: clean rooms, good meals, and professional staff who were always kind and cheerful. The building is right by the sea, and I enjoyed the interiors, which reminded me of former Yugoslavia. There are some things to expect: queues for the elevators, no air conditioning in the rooms, and a lack of hot water around dinner time. I accepted that, and my whole family still enjoyed the trip. You get what you pay for. The wider Plava Laguna beach resort has lots of beaches and restaurants with great service.

They know the hotel is cheap, and the hygiene was the worst I’ve ever seen. I left after seeing the room and, fortunately, they didn’t charge me. They seriously need to do something before the hotel falls apart. Best regards.
