We were staying for a sporting event, and the hotel worked for what we needed. The Plava Laguna complex is lovely and green, with really fresh air. I especially liked the staff: they spoke several languages, were attentive and kind, and made the place feel welcoming. The hotel itself is showing its age and could use renovation soon, though it was clean enough. There was plenty to choose from at both breakfast and dinner. Our double bed was spacious, the water pressure was good, and we had a large balcony.

It’s an okay hotel, nothing more. The cleaners were friendly, but the walls are so thin you’ll hear a loud group next door. The room was 27 degrees, so I left the door open overnight because it was too hot. They wouldn’t move me or listen to my complaints. The hotel is booked for sporting events, so check the calendar before you go. If you’re from the UK, it’s about the level of a budget Ibis or Premier Inn.

The food was great, the sea view amazing, and we had a nice stay overall. The rooms in the residence part are a bit odd, with walls that feel paper-thin. I’d recommend it if the room itself isn’t your main priority.

The breakfast was delicious and had plenty of variety, and the staff were polite, professional, spoke several languages, and were always happy to help. My room was comfortable and tidy when I checked in. I usually put out the ‘Do not disturb’ sign because I don’t like being interrupted, and they respected that. During the Umag open tennis event there’s loud music at night. With the balcony door shut you can still hear it a little, but it wasn’t too much of a problem for sleeping, at least for me.
