Ville Imperial Vodice

Breakfast was a daily hassle. It was never hot, the coffee machines kept breaking and causing queues of up to 15mins, and we were often waiting for bread and croissants to be refilled. The lady manager was deliberately unhelpful and unprofessional. Croatia is a great place, and we’ve been six times in 8 years and love it, but we won’t return to this hotel. There were plenty of problems with the room too. The shower never got hot for a week, the light above the bed was broken, towel hooks were coming off the wall, the carpets were filthy, and the bed sheets were dirty. The handrail to our block was dangerous. I have a video, but there was no option to upload it. The door handles were hanging off.

It’s a lovely place for a relaxed break surrounded by nature. The staff were polite and there whenever we needed them, and the food was fresh with plenty of variety in an all-you-can-eat restaurant. We had a great stay and would recommend it if you’re after downtime rather than posh or fancy tourism.

The location is good, but everything else was disastrous. My whole family, all 4 members, got a stomach virus here. It sounds almost unreal, but every day I kept thinking the same thing. This was my worst vacation ever. I’m so traumatised by it that I won’t come back to Vodice, and I might never return to this country. The restaurant couldn’t handle the number of people at peak dinner time. There were queues at the entrance, and inside we were bumping into each other. The food ranged from average to bad, often tasteless, careless and far too salty. Breakfast had no fruit and didn’t change for the whole week. I ate sunny-side-up every day. We skipped several dinners and ate outside. There also weren’t enough staff to clear tables. The rooms were ancient and badly in need of renovation, maybe even demolition. Sewage leaked under the shower and smelled, and the bath door came off in my hand when I opened it. A nearby bar held regular concerts, and until midnight it was louder than sleeping in a tent at a big music festival. The air conditioning couldn’t be operated from the room, since it was controlled by reception, or it didn’t work at all. The staff were doing what they could, honestly, but there was no digitalisation. It took us 15 mins to pay for parking at checkout.

I can’t remember staying in a worse hotel. The staff were rude and completely unprofessional. The cleanest spot was the parking ramp at the entrance. No hot water, and the electricity kept stuttering. Just a terrible experience, wouldn’t recommend it at all.
