Maistra Select Riva Apartments

We only had three days off, from 04.07 to 07.07, and staying at the Riva hotel hardly felt like a holiday. The room wasn’t cleaned. The plumbing was dirty, the kitchen hood was awful, there were cobwebs and dead insects everywhere, and I couldn’t step onto the balcony without slippers. We had to pay extra for everything. The first time we went to the beach, a man came over as soon as we lay down on sunbeds and asked for 16 euros for them, plus more for an umbrella. Nobody had warned us about these charges, so we ended up lying on the rocks, the only free option. We later returned the beach towels we’d been given and learned they were changed only every three days. We were shocked, since we thought beach hotels washed towels daily. When we raised our concerns at reception, we got 30 euros back for one breakfast for two. That was funny, considering the sunbeds and umbrella cost us more than the refund.

This was probably the best hotel I’ve stayed at in Croatia. The rooms and city are beautiful, and everything you need is within walking distance. The staff and people in Croatia made me feel very welcome, unlike when I visited Serbia >:(. 10/10, I’d come again.

The apartment was spacious and very clean, and we could use the pools at the neighboring hotel. Its location was excellent, close to town, the marina, restaurants, and shops. Parking can be tricky with a larger vehicle, and check-in is handled at the adjacent hotel, so keep that in mind when you arrive. We booked a one-bedroom apartment through a booking site. Breakfast at the hotel was average at best: good value, but many of the supposedly hot items were cold, so I wouldn’t strongly recommend it.

Everything is nearby, so it’s a handy base for heading out on the sea. They’ll look after your bikes and keep them in the bike room while you’re away on a sea trip.
