Hotel Lav

Nina was great when I needed a room at the last minute. She spoke English perfectly and also suggested dinner spots and places to see while I was in Vukovar.

I was here with a tour group, and this was the hotel they'd booked for us, so I didn't have another option. From the outside it looks quite modern, but inside and in the rooms it's very dated. The air conditioning didn't work, and I was literally sweating during my stay. Breakfast was edible, though not great. The kettle was useful, and there's a mini fridge, but its door was latched to an old cabinet so it wouldn't close properly. I detached the latch and then the fridge worked fine. There's a mall within walking distance where you can get food and water. The hotel is in a small town, so keep expectations modest. By North American standards, I'd call it more of a 3-star than a 4-star hotel. It can't compete with the big-name chains, but it does cover the basics for a night: a clean room, hot water, a comfortable bed, and a roof overhead.

The room was old and dirty for the price, the bed was awful, and the toilet in 218 didn't work.

The friendly, professional staff, free parking for hotel guests, and great bar and restaurant all made this a good place to stay. I especially liked the fantastic outdoor terrace. Right in the city centre by the Danube, it has lovely scenery, and there's a shopping mall next door with bars, shops, and even a cinema. For me, it's the best place to stay in Vukovar.
