We could walk to the nearest beach in three minutes. It’s almost sandy, which was great for me: after about two metres into the water, you’re walking on sand rather than rocks. Our room was cosy and modern, with a nice balcony and bathroom. The kitchen had utensils, a microwave, fridge, coffee machine and kettle.

The apartment was clean and tidy, with comfy beds and a nice balcony. The airport was a convenient distance away, and the local beach was a short walk. The sea view is priceless, so I think the extra cost is worth it. There’s a supermarket nearby for water, beer and food. Getting to the old town takes a good 45-minute walk, so plan for that. There are buses, and Uber is plentiful and very reasonable. Don’t be tempted by the cocktail bar along the way. Some basics were lacking: no welcome water for guests arriving in a hot country, no toaster or ice trays, little hot water, and just one A/C unit for the whole apartment. Those things didn’t spoil our stay, though. It’s still well worth considering.

We had the garden-view room, and it was really bad. The bed was very uncomfortable, and so was all the old furniture. We’d asked for a baby cot, but it hadn’t even been set up. The host also wasn’t very communicative during the stay.
