Art Hotel Kalelarga

We stayed in the suite, and it was quiet. Nena at reception did a terrific job helping us as customers. We had several questions and were looking for different things in Town, and she always came up with a solution. She was very Smiling, faut, and efficient. That's what I expect from a hotel. Thanks for your help, Nena.

Breakfast was an uncomfortable experience. The sliced baguette seemed so stale, maybe from the day before or even the week before, that the pieces could've been used as ice hockey pucks. Then the waiter scolded me for using my "main plate" for my croissant, which was just weird. Service overall was simply rude. During our stay at the Art Hotel, it felt painfully obvious that the staff didn't care about service and were just going through the motions of "dealing with the tourists." They may be quite full in the busy season because of the location, but they don't excel in any way. The room had its problems, too. We found a used band-aid in the bathroom, and one toiletry bottle was so sticky on the outside I had to wash my hands after picking it up. The TV was the size of a 90's computer monitor, if you care about that sort of thing. The air conditioning panel buttons were so worn out or missing that it was impossible to use, and this should have been fixed ages ago. Footsteps and general noise were unusually loud. While we were sleeping, the hotel did air conditioning repairs in the hallway outside our room, banging away like it wasn't a hotel at all.

The only thing I'd change is the lighting. It gets a bit dim and gloomy in both the sleeping areas and bathroom on an overcast day. Otherwise, this is a great little boutique hotel in the heart of old Zadar. The room was surprisingly spacious for such an old building, everything was nicely renovated, the shower was very roomy, and the pillows were comfortable.

What a find. This BOUTIQUE hotel has a huge room, recently renovated with great light fixtures. The parking instructions were spot on, and it was an easy walk. Breakfast was beyond what we expected: croissant, meat, breads, jams, and cheese on a three tier plate, with eggs made to order. The wait staff served everything, and reception was great. Close to everything, too.
