Family M Hostel

A nice hostel right by the bus station, with access to a swimming pool. There’s a beach nearby too. The old town is a bit far, though you can still walk there.

The pool was fairly nice, although it wasn’t very big, and we did at least have a small balcony. Still, the four of us were disappointed with our four-night stay. The staff didn’t seem welcoming or friendly, and the restaurant only opened in the morning. Breakfast was very limited and repetitive. You had to get up early to get any choice, even then there wasn’t much. Our room wasn’t especially clean, the shower was broken, and the key card only worked about one time in four.

Our fourth-grade group from Split was meant to stay at a four-star hotel in Zadar, but through the Perla agency we were placed in hostel M** instead. The hotel seemed to be rated two stars. The food was bad, and neither the air conditioning nor the TV worked. We wouldn’t recommend this hostel or hotel.

We needed a room for just one night, but it cost €120 for two people, with no breakfast included. The power went out three times in that room. Local taxi drivers also told us the owner was known as a “loprov” (Croatian for crook). Not recommended.
