Hostel Belafuža

Dario, the owner, was nice and kindly gave us any information or advice we needed. The free wifi was pretty good, and our double room wasn't too bad. With air conditioning, our stay was fairly comfortable. They gave us two small towels. The bathrooms were easily the worst part. There were only two for all the rooms, at least 12 people, and both the men's and women's bathrooms were dirty, messy and in very bad shape during our stay. There were no keys, so someone could walk in at any time. Only the women's toilet area, with one WC and one sink, had a lock separating it from the shower area, which had one shower and one sink. People were rude and left the common areas however they wanted. There's a shared kitchen people can use, and clean up after themselves, or not. The hostel is about a 20-minute walk from the city center, by a big street and near mini-markets, bars and an ATM. There are free parking spaces in front. The building looked old and poorly maintained outside and in. It was one of the cheapest stays in Zara, but at 70€ for two nights, it wasn't worth the money.

The landlord was friendly, cheap and extremely helpful. But the beds were extremely uncomfortable, the balcony was filthy, there was no soap in the bathroom, and the wifi barely worked, maybe five minutes total. The rooms could also be better set up.

The owner is warm and outgoing, and really tries to make guests comfortable. The bathrooms could use improvement, though, and it can get a little noisy.

I had a great time meeting lots of cool people here. The owner was friendly and helped me out a lot. Definitely recommend it for backpackers!
