Hostel Sunset

Marina made me feel welcome, and the hostel has a homely feel. It’s spacious and quite clean, with a towel provided, good A.C., and a nice terrace. The beach is really close. It’s a 25-minute walk to the ferry to Preko, 15 minutes to the main bus station, and a beautiful 30-minute walk along the beaches to the Old Town. I highly recommend it :)

The people are smiley, but the place has a commune-style feel and very little privacy. It’s also a 40-minute walk from the city centre, which is hard in hot weather. If you’re going to Zadar to see its history, I wouldn’t suggest staying here. It may work well if you’re there for swimming.

I wouldn’t recommend this hostel. It’s very old, and the beds creak with every movement. There’s only one shower for the whole floor, which might have been something I could overlook. What made me leave this review was the owner’s rudeness and poor sense of time. I checked in around 11.30, left my suitcase, and went to explore the city. When I returned around 17.30, my bed still wasn’t ready. I had to wait an hour for the owner to arrive, and there was no way to contact him. He didn’t apologize, just asked what my problem was. When confronted, he was aggressive. I went out for another walk to avoid more confrontation, and when I came back, another guest had taken my bed. Never again!

Everyone pitched in when I needed to pack my bike safely for the flight back to Belgium at the end of my stay. People were lovely and caring. It’s a cozy hostel with good social vibes, and I felt at home from the moment I arrived. Wishing you all the best.
