Idassa Atrium

We stayed in room 303 at the so-called Idassa Atrium, Don Ive Prodana 13, in Zadar, in September 2025. We had booked a room with a kitchen or kitchenette, but ours had neither. Staff said they couldn't change this. The old town location is excellent, but the price was exorbitant for what we got. Idassa presents the rooms as high quality, while ours was substandard. Based on the official photos, we expected more space; in reality, the room was very small, much of it under a sloping roof, and at best like a decent youth hostel. I'd generously give it 2 to 3 stars. The photos and generally positive reviews misled us. We wouldn't recommend it for a stay longer than a night or two, and suggest checking negative reviews for a more realistic picture. The room had many problems. The mattresses were very soft, and after one night this could cause considerable back pain even for people of average weight. Some pillows were too small and others far too large, causing neck pain. There was a musty, moldy, damp smell, apparently because the open shower was integrated into the room and hadn't been installed properly. The tiny windowless toilet room smelled strongly, especially of urine, so the door should be kept closed. Black mold covered the shower's silicone sealant, and the open shower didn't slope properly to the drain, so water ran into the room during a normal shower unless you blocked it with something like a towel. The faucet was noticeably loose and wobbled in the wall. You have to leave one of the two keys in the lockbox, or the power shuts off and the air conditioning and refrigerator stop working. The fridge was far too small for food, and if the key wasn't left in the lockbox, food molded very quickly. There was only one small bathroom trash can for the whole room. The air conditioner leaked occasionally, leaving a puddle on the floor. Some towels were old and frayed, a broken toilet paper holder was left in the bathroom cabinet, and the balcony door wouldn't open because its latches were broken. It seemed broken items were simply left unrepaired. We immediately raised the issue of the overly soft mattresses with staff and asked them to find a solution. They acknowledged the problem but did nothing. On our second-to-last day, we had to ask several times for fresh towels and toilet paper.

The accommodation was clean and lovely, right in the city center. The staff were very friendly, and they provided drinkable water and luggage storage. Reception is at Ul. knezova posedarskih 6, 23000, Zadar, Croatia. You can self check-in after 10:00 PM.

I was very disappointed. I expected a four-star hotel, but the travel agency put us in a small room in an old building. It had been renovated, but it wasn't comfortable, and there was no elevator. We complained to the agency, which managed to move us to a bigger room. To get there, though, we had to use another outside staircase. The light went out while we were going down it, which worried me. The new room lacked a wardrobe, towel hooks, and a wastebasket. There was only one very small bin in the bathroom. The receptionist, who was based in another building some distance away, gave us her WhatsApp, but I was concerned that there was no staff member available to help us. Breakfast was served at Bon Appetito, about 300 meters from the room, with limited choices. To my surprise, they didn't offer sweetener, and I can't have sugar.

The rooms and reception are unfortunately a bit far apart. Even so, I came away with a good impression of this very nice hotel in a beautiful country, and I'd recommend it without hesitation.
