Mono Apartments & Rooms

We had only two full days in Zadar, and this experience really spoiled them. The replacement room was a dark, small space in an old multi-unit building about 25 minutes from the old town. It had a kitchenette, cheap-looking worn furniture, lots of mosquitoes, and no breakfast or WiFi. It didn't come close to the modern apartment with a kitchen shown in our original booking, which was in the center of the old town and included breakfast. We didn't feel safe in the replacement's location. The day before check-in, after the full price had already been charged a week earlier, we got several alerts saying my card had been declined. When I called, they said the card was fine but there was a problem with our room, and the replacement would be better. Once we tried to sort things out, management stopped replying on Booking.com, by phone, and on WhatsApp. We eventually reached some kind of affiliate by phone. They said they could cancel the booking, had no other rooms, and we could leave and find somewhere ourselves. We don't recommend this company. It was a horrible experience. Stay away if you can.

The room we got was much too small to be the advertised 25 square metres, and it didn't match the photos on Booking.com or other portals. It wasn't premium, and several things were missing: a kitchen, clothes cupboards, a couch, and even a toilet paper holder. The bathroom door wouldn't close properly either. For the price, it simply didn't deliver what was promised. In reality, this is a three-room flat converted from an old house, which may explain why there are no exterior photos. The accommodation's name has apparently changed several times, and I've seen reports of similar experiences on other rating sites. Attention, scammers!

The location is right in the city center, and at least the air conditioning worked. But we had to wait two hours for the room, with no advance warning it wasn't ready, even though we'd given our arrival time as requested. The room was quite small and didn't match the photos on the booking. It might be acceptable for just a few nights, but I still wouldn't recommend it.

We ended up paying € 10,00 less for a two-star apartment without breakfast, 15 minutes from the old town. I won't book here again, even though the property looks very beautiful. My boyfriend and I had booked Mono Apartments & Rooms through Booking.com one or two weeks ahead, for our last night in Zadar after a night in Sibenik. The night before arrival, a WhatsApp message said to go to the check-in desk and that the room charge would be taken from my card. We caught the first bus from Sibenik at 6h30 so we could leave our luggage at the desk on time. On arrival at Zadar bus station, we checked Booking.com and WhatsApp for directions. The booking still showed as confirmed, and there were no new messages. At the desk, the woman told us the reservation had been cancelled because our credit card was declined. I work as a Hotel Reservations Manager & Front Office Supervisor, so I know the accommodation should update the Booking.com extranet when a card is invalid or declined. Booking.com then tells the guest and gives them 6 to 24 hours to update the card details before taking further action. We only found out about the cancellation when the woman told us at the desk. If we hadn't asked them to come up with a solution, they wouldn't have offered anything, even though Zadar was fully booked that night. After a serious discussion, she "offered" us a 2-star!!! apartment, 15 minutes from the old town center. I understand things can go wrong in hotels and apartments, but as someone who works in this field, I know this is NOT AT ALL how you should treat guests or offer "solutions".
