Centar Guesthouse

The location is the only reason for the two stars. In the room, the toilet seat was loose enough that you could fall when sitting down, and there was nowhere to put even a toothbrush or a bar of soap. The bathroom was awful. When we checked in, the trash had been left behind, along with empty water bottles. The staff responded quickly, but it still left a bad impression.

We found the place easily from the station, and the host kept us updated when our trains were delayed. After a long day, the beds were very comfortable. We also had a microwave, toastie maker, kettle, fridge, and towels, though I wouldn't have minded larger towels. We gave it five stars, even though we'd call it 4.5: the remote was a bit broken but still worked, and the dining table had some scratches. Those small things didn't affect our stay.

It was easy to get around Zagreb from here, with lots of sights nearby. The host was friendly and met us the first evening to answer questions and take payment. There's plenty of sleeping space, the beds are comfortable, and the bathroom, while a little small from an American perspective, was clean and worked well. We also had a fridge, kettle, and microwave. I initially missed the plates and silverware in the dresser, but the host pointed them out when I asked. I also hadn't realized you could use the key to open the door, which turned out to be handy. Come check it out!

We stayed in room 2, a very roomy triple with comfortable beds and a clean bathroom. It had a fridge, sandwich toaster, kettle, and utensils. This is a small guesthouse with just three rooms, each with its own entrance, so it feels like a studio. There's no reception, but check-in was very easy, and Dinko was great at communicating. The place is central, just around the corner from the National Theatre, and we walked everywhere. We'd stay again.
