B&B Cool Centre Zagreb

The location is a real advantage, just minutes on foot from Ban Jelačić Square and Zagreb’s main sights. The rooms are comfy, there are loads of power plugs for charging phones and laptops, and the Wi-Fi was fine with no annoying drops. The room staff we met, who were changing rooms and clearing breakfast, were very nice and helpful. Other staff were reached by email, which felt a bit stand-offish, though they replied quite promptly. We asked for a late checkout, but booking restraints meant it wasn’t possible. A few things to keep in mind: the premises are inside an old building, up a steepish staircase to the second floor, which isn’t helpful for people with mobility issues or anyone with children and pushchairs. The room wasn’t cleaned daily and bins weren’t emptied, so service was minimal. Breakfast is continental, with toast, ham, cheese, some fruit and veg, sliced tomatoes and cucumber, and boiled eggs. It’s good but nothing special. There are no late-night bars nearby, but young revellers passing by can make it pretty loud at night, though not unbearable. It’s a decent base for exploring Zagreb if you’re okay with some street noise and a bit of cardio on the stairs. The stairs and outside noise are why I took off a star for location.
