Deluxe Apartments Ria

At 10 PM on Sunday, April 27, 2025, I checked into the apartment in Zagreb after booking five nights through Booking.com. I’d arrived that evening, and within five minutes of self-check-in a live cockroach came out of the kitchen. I have a video attached. I contacted the owner right away. He apologized and offered a different apartment 700 meters away for one night, with no kitchen and different amenities. There was no assurance about the remaining days, just uncertainty. I asked them to sort it out with Booking.com, then soon got an automatic email saying my booking was canceled due to overbooking. That was false and extremely serious. By 11 PM I was left without a place to stay in a foreign city. I had to find somewhere myself, call Booking.com at my own expense, and pay €400 for a new apartment for the rest of my stay. The host’s handling of this was unfair, ambiguous, and irresponsible. He used overbooking as an excuse to cancel everything and wash his hands of it, leaving me in a bind with all the costs and responsibility. There were no guarantees or reliability, and no real concern for guests’ well-being. I’d absolutely avoid this property. It doesn’t deserve a listing on any reputable platform.
