Downtown Zagreb Apartments

I was traveling with my daughters, aged 1 and 9, and landed in Zagreb at 2030h. The first message I got was that the accommodation had canceled the reservation. They didn’t try to find us another place or cover the cost of arranging something urgently. The main thing was making sure two little girls didn’t have to sleep at the airport or in the rental car.

At first glance, the apartment looked like a nice place to stay. After looking more closely, though, I found a dirty toilet with stains and hair, hair on the mattress under the pillow, a used razor on the top toilet shelf, sticky kitchen drawer handles, dust on the shelves, and a carpet full of stains. The open bag of coffee in the photo was already there when we arrived. Maybe the cleaner made a cup, or maybe it was left by some guest from who knows when 🤔 The landlady had told us cleaners were in the apartment, so we couldn’t enter before 2 pm. Honestly, I wasn’t sure anyone had cleaned it before us. For 40 euros for one night, I wasn’t expecting much, but I work in tourism too, and basic hygiene should be taken care of before guests arrive. I got an apology by message and was told it’s not usually like this, but the sticky handles, dusty shelves, and stained carpet weren’t from yesterday. We left the apartment, left the key, and closed the door as we found it. I’m not a demanding guest and usually don’t fuss over small issues, but I can’t overlook basic hygiene.

It was spacious and well located, close to the main sights. The hosts were friendly even though we arrived a little later than expected.
