Hotel As sits in a peaceful forest setting near Zagreb’s center, though getting into the city center takes about a 20-minute walk. There aren’t shops close by: the nearest grocery store, Konzum, is a 15-minute walk each way. Inside, it’s clean but has an old-fashioned 1960s feel. The rooms are spacious and comfortable, the bathrooms are nice, Wi-Fi is great, and free coffee and on-site parking are available. Staff were pleasant and helpful. We did find lots of "Smrdljivi Martin" stink bugs in the room despite keeping the windows closed. They’re harmless, but unpleasant to deal with. The restaurant is quite pricey. TV is limited to analog channels, with no children’s programs and most channels in German or French. Breakfast was basic, with the same few items each day.

It’s a quiet hotel with clean rooms and top service. There’s a large parking area nearby, and Ilica is only a 15-minute walk away. Everything was great.

The rooms are spacious and pleasantly cool on arrival, with furnishings in decent shape though a little old-fashioned. Check-in was seamless, but the key has a tag that must weigh about half a kilo. Breakfast was good and seemed to use quality ingredients, but a wider selection would be nice. It would also help if staff were around more consistently to refill the eggs and clear plates. The hotel sits on Zagreb’s outskirts but is within walking distance of the city centre, beside a park. From outside it looks a bit like a public swimming pool, and I think it could use refurbishment in the next five years.

A real plus is the breakfast timing: it runs until 11 a.m., handy on vacation if you want to sleep in. On our last day the waiter even waited longer for us, and was kind and welcoming. The food was really good, and the reception and restaurant staff were kind, friendly and helpful. The hotel is well located in central Zagreb, yet set among the trees in a park, so it feels peaceful while the center is still easy to reach on foot or by car. Rooms are spacious compared with other hotels and have big windows. I liked the very classic touches, such as the heavy old keys, paintings and furniture. The inside of the building is classic, while the outside is modern 😍. Parking is available and free. A few things to consider for a four-star hotel: there was no kettle in the room. They kindly brought hot water for our baby when asked, but a kettle in the room really matters. I asked for an iron, but they didn’t have one, and there was no laundry service either. I was embarrassed because I had a flight the next day, and the town laundries were closed on Sunday 😅. In April the AC wasn’t on yet. I know it was cold outside, but our room was really warm, so I had to open the windows and woke early to traffic and birds 😅💔. Still, I really recommend staying here.
