A lovely local place to visit, especially if you're interested in history or religion. There's a small shop by the Virgin Mary painting where you can buy candles. Just past the gate, there's also a souvenir shop run by a very nice husband and wife, as shown in my picture.

It's easy to stop by Stone Gate (Kamenita Vrata) during a walk through town, and being open 24 hours means you can visit anytime. The little shrine inside is quiet and glowing with candlelight. Passing through the old gate feels like stepping back in time, while the ironwork and many gratitude plaques give the place a strong sense of faith and history. A small but deeply moving spot in Zagreb's old town, and well worth a visit for a quiet moment.

Right at a 90-degree bend in the street, there's a Catholic sanctuary tucked inside the corner, with a place to sit and pray across from it. It feels peaceful and quiet, even though it's in the middle of the city.

This religious shrine is dedicated to the Virgin Mary and divides the Upper and Lower Town. The Stone Gate dates back to the 13th century and is the only gate from the city's fortifications that has survived.

The candles and gratitude plaques around the Virgin Mary shrine made a strong impression on me. Even as people pass through, the stone passage stays calm and respectful, a lovely place to pause and reflect. The Stone Gate is also a historic entrance to the Upper Town. Whether you're drawn by its history or spiritual atmosphere, it feels like a special corner of Zagreb preserved in time.
