The staff made a huge difference for me. They were warm, always smiling and helpful, and took time to chat and share city tips. The social side was great too, with karaoke, pancake evenings and other activities that made it easy to meet people. I felt at home and had a lot of fun. The kitchen is small but has what you need. Bathrooms were less convenient: the showers on our floor were out of order, so we had to use other floors, and the hot water cut out while I was showering. The two mixed-gender showers made me a little uncomfortable. There’s one toilet per gender on each floor, though it luckily wasn’t busy while I was there.

The bar happy hours and the connections we made are what I’ll remember most about Zagreb. The kind, helpful staff and the facilities made the trip feel special, and www was easily one of the best experiences I’ve had. Tanja is such a sweetheart and the best barwoman around, and Lip aka AchilLip the great warrior deserves a shout-out too. Our homes in Greece are always open to you both. You made a hostel feel like home. 💜

We tried the hostel’s bar crawl and it was a bad experience. The atmosphere felt unwelcoming, and multiple people were roofied. The “owner”’s childish, rude replies to criticism tell you plenty. Save yourself the headache and stay somewhere else.

Tina’s eggs and sausage at breakfast were a highlight, especially after a big night. She deserves a medal for those breakfasts. The Christmas dinner was also unexpectedly warm and social, with good food, plenty of laughs and people around when you might otherwise feel lonely over the holidays. Nikita at reception was friendly and helpful, keeping things moving even with all the chaos around him. Tanja and Barbara brought a lot of energy and laughs, and every day and night seemed to come with another story. Some memories probably aren’t fit for a review. The hostel is loud, sociable, welcoming and full of character. If you want an early, quiet night, it may not suit you. For good company and experiences I’ll keep to myself, I’d happily come back.
