Tara's Lodge

At Tara’s lodge, the rooms were roomy and well equipped, the food was delicious, and the staff were lovely. It’s in a great location with a private bag.

What made our stay at Tara’s Lodge in Korčula so special was Laura and her team. Everything ran smoothly from the warm welcome at reception to the meticulous housekeeping and excellent restaurant, with every detail well coordinated. Laura’s kindness, professionalism, and leadership stood out, and the whole team took wonderful care of us. The lodge itself is beautiful, but its people are what make it special. One of the best stays we’ve ever had, and we can’t wait to return.

The private beach opens onto a beautiful bay, and the bean bag loungers are so comfortable. There are only a few rooms, which gives the hotel an intimate feel. The staff are friendly, the food is very good, and the modern rooms are clean, with large, comfortable beds. You can sign into your streaming accounts on the TV, and there are some lovely walks in the countryside nearby. The rooms are on the small side, though. Old Town Korcula is a 40-minute walk or a 15 euro taxi ride away. Dinner has just four main course choices, even though lunch includes other options like sandwiches and burgers. No major dealbreakers, but noisy construction next door disturbed our time on the beach. The hotel hadn’t warned guests, and although I understand they may not be able to control the work, no one there could say when it would stop.

The rooms were clean, tidy, and minimalist, with a white beach lodge feel. I chose this hotel because the places in the center looked a little tired. It’s right on the water, and the large bay in front is sheltered from the wind, almost like a lagoon. They rent SUPs, though the water wasn’t as clear as at other places where I swam in Croatia. The beach restaurant was good when I ate there after the weather turned one night. It’s a 5-10 minute drive to the old town. A taxi cost me 15 euros each way at any hour, or a taxi boat was 25 euros, which adds up over a few days. I’d recommend the hotel for families with kids. My room windows faced the path to the beach and restaurant, so people kept looking in as they walked by and there wasn’t much privacy. The little toiletry bottles also didn’t have much shower gel.
