The pictures are accurate. It’s a quiet, well-kept place with a countryside view, and the price is an absolute bargain. You can also pay with a SZÉP card. The rooms were clean, and the friendly owners clearly explained what would be in the room. For me, the five-star rating is really because of them.

There are plenty of hiking and trekking routes around, and our stay had everything we needed. The host was lovely and always ready to help. We had a great time and would happily recommend it.

Abadszalok is really quiet, with little in the way of entertainment, so it suits people looking for peace and quiet. There’s a restaurant next door with pretty decent food, and the Tisza-Tavi Ökocentrum in Poroszlo is nearby. I’d also recommend the beach at Tiszafured. We spent a fantastic vacation here a while back. Our daughter was our only child then, but there was room for two. The owners went out of their way for us, even bringing toys for her. We managed to communicate with a translator. The apartment was clean, with a shady garden, a small playground, and a fireplace. We rode our bikes to places like the lake, about five minutes away, and circled two lakes altogether. Mosquitoes were the one downside. There are nets on the apartment windows, but bring repellent for the evenings.

For nine years now, we’ve kept coming back with the family. It feels like home here. We love the quiet, leafy surroundings, and the owner is kind, helpful, and very flexible.
