Duna Wellness Hotel

We loved staying at Duna Wellness, especially since our dog was welcome. It really is pet friendly, and the place still felt elegant and clean throughout. The staff were kind, and our room was very clean. Breakfast tasted good, too. The hotel is right in the city center beside the Sugovica river. We had a lovely view from the balcony, and it was only a short walk to the Danube and several other tourist spots. Thanks, Duna Wellness 😍

The shower was hard to get right. Cold water came out with good pressure, but turning up the temperature made the flow drop. My wife and I are experienced travelers, so we both noticed it, though maybe we weren't using the controls properly. We also found the room too warm. The AC barely helped even on its coldest setting, and we had to sleep without a blanket. Opening the windows didn't do much since there wasn't any wind and the building holds heat. The location is perfect, and it's pretty much the only actual hotel around, rather than a B&B or guesthouse. Apart from those issues, everything was good. The breakfast room has a new coffee machine now, a welcome change from the coffee they used to serve. It grinds fresh beans for espresso, cappuccino, or latte.

We asked for our money back through booking and left instead of staying. The manager called and offered us a premium room in another part of the hotel, but by then we'd found cockroaches in both rooms. In the first room there were spiders and cockroaches. The receptionist apologized and said it had been cleaned a week earlier. In the second room we found another cockroach under the pillow. I took photos and showed them to the girl at reception. Such a shame about the hotel.

The city is nice, and the hotel is in a lovely spot by the Danube, right in the center. The staff were friendly and the food was okay. Still, I expected more from a 4-star room. It could have been cleaner, especially the carpet and furniture, and the room phone didn't work.
