The staff were kind and the service was nice. Dinner was quite tasty, though the cakes weren’t as good, and breakfast was okay. The real highlight is the huge garden by Lake Balaton, with some of the best views of the lake and Tihany’s hills. It’s a retro hotel, and I’d fully recommend it if the buildings were renovated and refurbished.

The beach is the reason I’m giving this a fairly generous four stars. Entry is cheap, around 1-2 euros at most, and there’s a wide range of boats you can rent. The hotel itself looks like it hasn’t been renovated in 60 years, inside or out, and the decor is awful, if you can call it decor. If you’re happy spending most of your vacation on the beach and barely using the hotel, it could work for you, though there may be better options elsewhere.

The garden was nice and the beach was close, which are the only good things I can think of. My room was filthy, with cobwebs everywhere, and honestly seemed as if it hadn’t been cleaned in weeks. The view was just a half-abandoned construction site. Even camping in a tent would be better. The outside already looked like a warning sign, but inside was much worse.

The garden and beach are beautiful, and the young workers are friendly. But most of the rooms are old, dirty, and covered in spider webs, and the boss is a real a**hole. I’d only choose this place as a very last resort.

It’s very dated and basic, so it’s fine for one night and a quick swim in the lake, as long as you don’t expect much. This was once a fancy hotel with lots of features and activities, but they’ve clearly been abandoned.
