Villa Muzsa

The views were beautiful, and the bathroom’s underfloor heating was a dream. The woman who welcomed us was extraordinarily nice. This villa/hotel is very nice and can only be recommended.

The host was really kind :) I had a happy time there.

The location is right in the centre, the yard has free parking, and the surroundings are lovely, with a small forest next door. You can watch the sunrise from bed, and the apartment gets light for most of the day. There were some good things too: tea and coffee making facilities, dishwashing liquid, kitchen towels, and the manager, Gergely Pirovich, apologized and arranged for the cleaners to deal with the main problems we reported. He also offered a refund if we wanted to leave, and later offered to bring dishes. I appreciated that he tried to make things right, but the dishes he brought weren’t new or in immaculate condition. We ended up buying some at the nearby Tesco and spent as little time as possible in the apartment after that. We’d booked three nights in early September with our one-year-old. The reviews on booking and Google had set our expectations high. We contacted the accommodation directly, and the communication beforehand was fine. We were grateful to be allowed into the Falstaff room early. But when we looked around, there were cobwebs and spiders in almost every corner, dust, dirty windows, bird droppings on the terrace and chairs, and hair on the bath edge and bed linen. It wasn’t clear that the floor had been mopped. There were food scraps on the chairs and radiator, stains on the baby bed mattress and cover, sticky yellow marks on the bathroom radiator, and problems with the toilet. The taps and sink were quite clean, at least. Gergely said a deep clean wasn’t possible during the season, and that the cleaning fee covered changing the bed linen and a superficial tidy-up. He apologized and suggested the colleagues might have been tired near the end of the season. The cleaners addressed the most important issues after we asked, and we thank them for that. The little yard looked neglected and abandoned, with chairs piled up where we would have liked to sit. It didn’t look like the photos. The villa seems as though it may once have welcomed guests in real splendour, but the attempt to renovate it felt minimal, as if just to create that impression. The mattress was painfully soft and uncomfortable, and the extra topper made it worse. There was a dishwasher but no tablets. That evening I unpacked the dishes to cook dinner for my family and found a dirty frying pan with what looked like food residue or rust. The other dishes weren’t pleasant to cook with either. The graters were rusty, and dried food was stuck on the wooden spoons. I told Gergely again that we didn’t think this was acceptable. His offer to refund us and let us leave would have been the best option, and we thank him for it, but with the baby in bed, dinner still to make, and no time to pack and find somewhere else, we couldn’t do that. We’d booked an apartment so we could eat according to our own needs. We’d spent a long time finding suitable accommodation and hadn’t even chosen the cheapest place. We already had plans for the next day and were only there for three nights. If you care about clean, high-quality accommodation, Villa Muzsa won’t be the right choice. Almost two months after sending my complaint letter, there’s been no reply, and we still haven’t received an invoice.

The room was clean and neat, and it had everything we needed. We stayed four nights and found the host very kind and polite. Everything was nearby, yet the surroundings were peaceful, so we could properly relax. Everything worked out really well.
