Hotel Marina Port

The food was great, 10/10, and the indoor pool is fantastic, with fun for the whole family. There are beautiful rooms facing the front, overlooking Balaton lake and the hotel's private grass beach. Our room, like many others, had no terrace and looked onto the car park. The hotel itself looks a bit outdated. Despite the name marine port, it's not themed around boats or marine life or anything like that, and it's located near balaton pear.

We spent a week here in July, 2024, and would definitely come back. The hotel is clean and well maintained, and our room was spacious and quiet. It's very family-oriented, with a huge playhouse, afternoon activities for kids with teachers, outdoor programs, a lovely playground in the yard, and an indoor kids' pool with a little slide. The setting is beautiful, close to Siófok and Balatonlelle. The water at Marina port was ideal for swimmers, non-swimmers and kids, unlike the very shallow water on the other side of Balaton's south port. The restaurant has seating inside and outside, and the food was 5* with lots of hot, cold and sweet buffet choices. One downside was the high drink service charge. We asked what the counted 12% and additional 27% service charge meant, but nobody could explain it. I was also happy to find a Bible in the room 😊

The activities and space by the balaton for kids and families are why we came, and why we'll return. We enjoyed the trip and will recommend the hotel. I especially recommend coming if you have children. The staff who greeted us were exceptionally nice, and the ground floor, lobby, kids' play area and dining area were all 5/5, new and top tier. The rooms are on the older side but manageable. The bathrooms are tight, and cleanliness could have been better: we found lots of hair on the carpets and shelves. The patio was very dirty, with spider webs everywhere, and didn't look cleaned at all. Food and drinks were 4/5 and very enjoyable overall. I was ready to rate the hotel 5/5, but one thing lowered it for us. The younger women working the breakfast and dinner service, and the outdoor drinks area, were quite rude and unpleasant. They seemed unhappy to be there and acted as if guests were in their way while they waited to finish work. I hope this was just summer staff, not the permanent team.

This was our second visit, and we enjoyed it just as much as last year. The beach area is big, and there's an indoor pool, a children's pool and a sauna area. It's great for kids, with both a playroom and a craft room. The rooms are nice, and the food is wonderful. We'll definitely come every year.
