We got what we expected from the guesthouse, and a bit more. It works well as budget-friendly accommodation, though anyone comparing it with a 4-5 star hotel on Lake Balaton would be disappointed. The price is much more accessible, which matters when you're trying to save. Our room had a double bed, TV, safe, and mini fridge, and it served its purpose perfectly. The building has an unusual zigzag layout. Downstairs from our upstairs room there was a cozy living room, with distinctive furniture and upholstery that reminded me of Africa. I've rarely seen anything like it. The location makes it easy to drive to Keszthely or Sümeg to see the sights, including the incredibly beautiful, richly appointed Festetics Castle. Balatonkeresztúr is also roughly equally distant from Hévíz, Zalakaros, Kehidakustány, Alsópáhok, and Gyenesdiás, so you can reach any of their bathing spots for pools or thermal water. If you have the time and a bit of an adventurous spirit, you could visit all four. That's what I'll do next time. 😁 The Balaton Uplands National Park and Kis-Balaton are practically on site and make great excursion destinations, something people often forget. It’s a good base for arranging different outings with short drives. I really liked the restaurant. When I'm somewhere unfamiliar, I look inside a restaurant and either the view draws me in or tells me to keep looking. This one has character and atmosphere. The dark brown original wooden booths and classic red-and-white checkered tablecloths give it a homemade-food feel. The glass mosaics used for lighting are unusual too, and I would have taken one home. 😁 The food came in a good setting. The one thing to fix is the billiard table: the balls sometimes got stuck, and they had to open it up. Unfortunately, they're closed in winter, so the next chance to visit is in spring. Maybe that'll change too.

We had a lovely stay. The receptionist was nice, though we didn't meet any other staff. Our double room was clean and tidy, and the pool in the back garden was clean too. Thanks very much.

Especially for a group, it’s good value for the money. The room had a clean attached bathroom, and the linen and towels were fresh. The staff were helpful.
