Hotel Kek To

The hotel could use some renovation, but the staff are wonderful and really helpful. I forgot to bring enough money, and the manager drove me to the bike hire place and even paid the deposit for me 😮. They're truly kind people. They also grow tiny watermelons in the back garden 🍉😊. There's a free beach pass, and the train station is just a stone's throw away.

This place feels like a work of art, if the art is meant to make you hate your life. The wallpaper is moldy, smells of vinegar, and has been patched with what looks like snot. The shower tray is less than 40 centimeters from the beds, with no curtain, and there's a one-meter shower gap behind the bed, with the window at the far end. The bed bugs were considerate enough to avoid biting the unpleasant parts. The spiders didn't smoke, at least, but their long leg hairs kept warming my face while I slept. I'd recommend it to anyone missing a few rare sexually transmitted diseases from their collection.

Room 19 was quiet and had air conditioning. The furniture is battered, but every piece still does its job. You can hang things on a hanger in the hall, put them in the toilet, or even put them in a wardrobe, though its door is locked. The staff were friendly, fair, and helpful. For this amount of money, if I needed a place in the area again, I'd come back to this room.

The only good thing I can say is that it's close to the beach. In 30 degree heat, the owner wanted to rent us a room with a skylight sealed with plexiglass. At night it felt like a cave. The pictures shown for booking were only of the nicest rooms and made the place look misleadingly good. We raised the issue with the owner when we arrived and didn't accept the room. The hotel doesn't even deserve two stars, and I was very disappointed.
