Bibic Nature Lodge

Watching birds from the terrace with the lodge's scopes was a highlight, and the owner knows a lot about them. The location also works really well for photography. Our rooms were large, clean, and comfortable, and the owners made the whole stay feel friendly and familiar. The service was first class. We had tasty home-cooked vegetarian meals, with meat and vegan options too, plus a different home-baked cake for dessert each day. There's a good selection of wine and beer. I did manage to leave them without beer, though, because some shops were closed for the holiday and they weren't expecting a German guest. It won't happen when you visit! I loved the lodge and its people, and would definitely come back.

The terrace looks out over the rich birdlife of Hortobagy, and you can watch through the lodge's scope or bring your own. Guests can also use the bird hide, which gives photographers a low viewpoint for all kinds of birds. It's a lovely place to relax and enjoy nature. We've stayed at Bibic Nature Lodge several times and have never been disappointed. The rooms are spacious and clean, the food is wonderful, and the hosts are friendly and helpful. Waking up to an Oriole or Syrian woodpecker is hard to beat. Highly recommended.

Two nights went by too quickly, I wish we'd stayed four or five. From the terrace we spotted Egrets, Spoonbills, Whiskered Terns, and even a peregrine. The friendly hosts also helped us figure out where to look for birds nearby. I'll be back soon.

Tibor and his family were fantastic hosts, and they speak great English. Tibor knows a lot about the area and can connect you with bird guides. We stayed five nights in October 2016 and really enjoyed it. The accommodation was a very high standard, and they cooked great vegetarian meals for us. It's a lovely place, especially for nature lovers and birders.
