The one plus was the good parking. After a painfully long car trip and about a day without sleep, we were charged €10 extra for early check-in. We'd booked a good room but were given an accessible room instead. The soundproofing was awful, and someone talked constantly at reception until 2 a.m. The room smelled strongly of sewage. The second bed hadn't been made, and there were no pillows or blankets for it. When I tried to explain this, the man at reception didn't understand me and spoke little English. I couldn't get enough sleep before setting off on the long drive again.
After we complained the next morning, they moved us to a room outside the main building. It smelled better and was on the ground level, though it was still poorly cleaned, with quite a few hairs on the floor. That's why I'm giving two stars instead of one. Our first room on the second floor had a terrible rotten smell and was badly cleaned; the building had no sound insulation, and one bed squeaked every time you moved. We were unpleasantly surprised to discover there was no elevator, and they hadn't mentioned this basic limitation before we had to haul our heavy luggage upstairs. Room service staff were rude and did a poor job. They charge €2 for a Nespresso and €1.50 for a teabag, things other hotels usually provide free. I wonder who leaves the positive reviews. If you stay here, lower your expectations from “boutique hotel” to a cheap roadside motel somewhere in upstate NY. We'll stay elsewhere next time.
The parking lot is large and secure, the room has a big fridge, and the staff were pleasant. But the room felt creepy, with very poor lighting and an uncomfortably high ceiling. The storage cabinet smelled awful. There's a kitchen with a fridge and sink, but no dishes, utensils, stove, kettle, or anything else to use. They charge extra for late check-in even though reception is open 24 hours.
The rooms are very nice for the price, new and super clean, even if everything is Ikea. Staff are friendly, there's a jacuzzi, and free parking in a guarded lot. The main drawback is that it's farther from the city center. They also don't provide things like napkins, an amenity kit, or shower gel. I had to use a towel after finishing my burger, and luckily I'd brought my own toiletries. Still, it's a great place and going on my Budapest favorites list.
