Hotel Gloria Budapest City Center

The rooms were absolutely fantastic, and the staff were really friendly. Breakfast was okay. The hotel is in a lovely part of the city, beside tram 1 and very close to Nepliget, one of Budapest's main stations. The heating is incredibly effective, so bring lighter pajamas. It felt like two different worlds inside and outside the hotel. I'd visit Budapest again and would definitely stay at HOTEL GLORIA. Bravo for the excellent service.

I stayed here in winter and found the room warm enough. It was comfortable, clean, and peaceful. The airport “taxi mafia” was brutal: they charged 90,000 HUF for the ride to the hotel, seeming to wait for tired, disoriented travelers. For the return trip, I asked a random taxi near the closest metro station. One driver offered 20,000 HUF at night, but in the morning I found another for 10,000 HUF.

We appreciated how quiet and peaceful the neighbourhood was, felt safe walking around, and liked being close to local transport stops. There's also a calm outdoor garden area for relaxing. Reception staff were very helpful and friendly, with perfect English, and the cleaners were accommodating when we needed extra towels or toilet paper. Prices felt fair for what we got. Standard rooms don't have air conditioning, but the large fan the hotel provided was much appreciated. It's pet friendly, so dogs may bark now and then, although we didn't hear any late in the evening while trying to sleep. I'd stay again.

Street parking is possible, but as a foreigner I could only pay with coins, not by card or SMS. You can pay for just three hours at a time, then have to come back and pay for another three. It's free on Saturdays, Sundays, and non-working days, though there may be exceptions when the government declares a weekend day a working day. The hotel itself has a good location near a subway station, tasty breakfast, and rooms with everything in place, including air conditioning. There's also a monitored parking lot inside the courtyard.
