The hotel is in an excellent spot, and the Valley of the Beautiful Women is nearby and clearly visible from the grounds. After 72 steps, you reach good Hungarian wine and a local atmosphere. Breakfast at the hotel is good, though it’s a shame it starts as late as 8:00, since when you’re travelling you want to get on the road earlier.

I stayed here a few years ago for a few “unforgettable” days. It was terribly retro, and the room was hot and dirty, with weeks or even months of grime in the fridge. There was lots of stuff floating in the pool, and the jacuzzi wasn’t working. It left a deep impression, to put it mildly.

We had a good time in the end, and the sauna and jacuzzi were cozy. The reception women were charming and kind, and the owner is a really nice guy. The cleaner, though, was quite phlegmatic and could bring you down. Our first dinner arrived cold even though we went down as they were bringing it out, but the next day the food was hot and delicious. Opinions on the views varied. Some people thought there was nothing special, but to me you can’t expect a prime view from every room. We had a terrace room, so ants were understandable, and when we told reception, they brought Chemotox right away and sorted it. The tap was broken, leaving only cold hand-washing water, and it ran noisily. We fixed that by closing the door. Thanks for the hospitality.

The food was delicious, and the area was lovely and cozy, with an impressive view of the beautiful valley. The room was rundown, though, and I wouldn’t recommend the promised bubble bath. I also wouldn’t go to the downtown guesthouse and spa belonging to Rubinia.

We slept well, but the rice was so hard you could fight with it. There were mouse droppings on the jacuzzi room floor. Most of the dinner was hard to identify and raw. I wouldn’t recommend this for anyone with food sensitivities unless you want to get sick.
