Lima Hostel Gyor

The room was tiny, with a locked connecting door to the neighboring room. I could hear every sound so clearly that it felt like the other guests were inside my room. I’ve never encountered that at a hotel before. When I asked reception to change rooms, they wanted another 10 euros. I reached the city at 10 a.m. and went straight to the hotel, exhausted and hoping to rest, but they wouldn’t give me the room I’d already booked because check-in was at 3 p.m. They said immediate check-in would cost an extra 20 euros, about 35% more than the original price. That seemed completely unreasonable and unacceptable. It was a terrible experience, and I wouldn't recommend this hotel even if it were the only one available in town.

I can only speak to the restaurant, which I've been visiting regularly for the past three years. It isn't cheap, but the food quality and service have been consistently excellent. I kept choosing it over the nearby KFC and McDonald’s, and still do. 🙂

The breakfast was minimal, didn't seem fresh, and the coffee was disgusting. There were hairs throughout the room, especially in the tiny bathroom, so it wasn't clean. The parking situation was also a problem. The advertisement made it sound like parking was at the hotel, but it’s across the road and still costs a lot. The space was very short, less than 2 meters, and had no height-limit notice like other parking places. When I raised it, the hotel said, "it is not our parking and not our responsibility". I asked for a refund so I could pay the parking owner directly, but they refused. So is it your parking, and will you take responsibility, or refund me? There are plenty of other hotels nearby, better to avoid this one.

The reception staff seemed unfriendly, and the woman didn't speak German. I booked a room after seeing it had air conditioning, but there was no remote to operate it. When I called reception, she said there wasn't one because the room had a heater. I was hot, so I opened the window, but the traffic noise was really loud. There was no kettle, coffee or tea in the room, and breakfast wasn't very extensive.
