We arrived around midnight after a long trip and found dinner waiting for us in the room, nicely laid out because we’d missed the included meal. Such a thoughtful surprise. The spa is spacious, with lovely water that felt healing, plus steam saunas and cold plunge pools. The parking area is large and has an EV charging station. We also liked the minibar and the excellent dinners. Breakfast was more standard, but fine. A very comfortable stay with caring service. I’d happily come back and recommend the hotel.

The good parts first: the location is handy for the aquapark, the indoor pool and spa are nice, and the hotel, rooms, and hallways were clean. The bathroom fan didn’t work on our first day, so with no windows it felt like a sauna, but they fixed it almost right away. Apart from the incident below and slow drink service at dinner, I had no other complaints about the staff. The cleaner missed our room once or twice, though we weren’t messy and it didn’t need cleaning. I still notice things like that when reviewing. Almost nobody spoke an international language. We met one receptionist and the waiter who came after me, and luckily my wife speaks Hungarian. I booked half board, breakfast and dinner. I understand that drinks aren’t always included at resorts, but many hotels at least provide water with both meals. Here breakfast had water, quite good and varied coffee, and some non-natural but decent juices, which I appreciated. At dinner, though, there wasn’t even water, and we had to pay extra for everything. A water dispenser can’t cost much, and I doubt not providing water makes anyone rich. I’ve seen water dispensers in hotel hallways elsewhere. Breakfast drinks were the reason I didn’t immediately take off two stars, and I thought I’d leave four. Then, on our second-to-last evening, I ordered cocktails, a beer, and a 0.75L bottle of still water, paying extra for all of it. I wanted the glass bottle with the wide opening to take home and use for water and watering my plants. After we finished the water, I tried to take the empty bottle I’d paid for. A waiter ran after me and, in very poor English, said I couldn’t take it. Fine, I wasn’t going to argue over an empty bottle, but I’ll mention it in my reviews on Google and booking.com. If I’d bought it from the hotel, I should be able to take it to the F roof if I want. It came from your restaurant at way above supermarket prices. What if I hadn’t drunk it? This wasn’t about the cost of the bottle, but the gesture. We saw people take coffee bought at the hotel bar to their rooms, yet I couldn’t keep an empty bottle. I’d have understood if it came from somewhere else, but it was from your F kitchen! I found the whole thing annoyingly funny, but it said a lot about the respect shown to guests. I also set aside the slow table service and how long it took to bring the dinner drinks check.

Update, 2025: after the renovations, the thermal bath looks awful and the wonderful garden has been destroyed. I’m so sad about that. Back in 2018, I thought it was the best place to relax.

The people were warm and nice, but the lack of English was tremendous. Even the English breakfast menu card was hilarious. The internet barely worked, and the food was very poor. The meat was chewy and gross. For the first two nights there were steamed vegetables, which were the only good thing, then it was just broccoli. They did have salad, fresh tomatoes, yogurt, and green vegetables. We came on holiday with our 19-month-old son. I wouldn’t recommend this hotel to anyone. They claim to be four stars but barely meet three-star standards. The worst part was that I couldn’t take my son to the thermal pool, and I still don’t know exactly why. The young man talking to me didn’t understand English. I told him I didn’t speak Hungarian and asked if he spoke English, but he just mumbled in Hungarian and showed us we couldn’t go. There was a sign saying children aged 0-14 could enter under parental guidance, which of course we provided. That really made me angry.

The changing room was great, though it’s shared by men and women. The pools are nice too, and at this time of year there’s plenty of space without too many people.
