Alexandra Apartman

There’s a pub downstairs with billiards, darts and foosball, and a tobacco shop right beside the guesthouse. The owner also runs a food bar, so meals can be delivered directly. The portions are normal, prices are reasonable, and the food is delicious. The rooms have a modern, pleasant look and the surroundings are tidy. I know the annual repainting happens first-hand, since I’ve done it myself more than once. :)

Hot water was never a problem thanks to the separate boiler in our room, and I only wished there had been a kettle as well. One odd thing was the huge bathroom window right beside the toilet. I kept thinking that only happened in comedies, and no, the glass wasn’t frosted. We’d been told ahead of time that there wouldn’t be anyone at reception when we arrived. The payment was a separate hassle: we’d said when booking that we planned to use a SZÉP card, but there was no terminal. That left us choosing between paying cash or detouring on the way home to pay at another accommodation.

Getting in with a PIN code was easy. The rooms were clean, the bathroom had good water pressure and no mold, and there were proper beds plus a kitchen where you can cook.

We were greeted warmly and stayed in a stylish, modern room that was clean and pleasant. The price was very good for what we got. I’d recommend it to anyone staying in Kalocsa, whether for a short visit or a longer one.
