Pilvax Hotel Kalocsa

The staff here really go out of their way to make guests feel looked after. They’re friendly and helpful, and they know the city well, so they’re happy to point you in the right direction. Breakfast, lunch and dinner are available, along with coffee and other drinks. There’s even a free sauna, which is a nice place to unwind, and a garden that makes it kid-friendly. In the small town of Kalocsa, this is a lovely hotel. It’s officially two stars, but in my experience it beats many three-star places and even some four-star ones. It seems new, with good standards, clean rooms and a pleasant feel throughout.

We were only there for one night, but left very happy. The location was great and still quiet, the air conditioning worked well, and there was plenty of free parking out front. Breakfast was included in a very reasonable price. Everything, both inside and outside, was clean, modern, comfortable and well equipped. The whole staff was incredibly professional, polite and nice, and they took care of every request we had. We’d gladly stay here again if we return, and highly recommend it. To me, it deserves more than two stars!

They kindly sorted out an error I’d made in the reservation, and check-in and check-out were both smooth. We stayed just one night as a stop during our holiday. Since the rooms don’t have fridges, they gave us a small portable one.

The spiders in the room didn’t really bother me, and otherwise the stay was good. But the air conditioning had a timer and shut off after a few hours, which I don’t think is fair. We had no window, only a door onto the shared balcony, and the heat made it impossible to sleep.
