Thermal Hotel

The people were friendly and the staff nice. We had a small but comfortable room connected to the beach, just right for two if you're planning to spend the day in the pools. The beach is good for kids and has two different slides. The price was reasonable, and the little city tour train is worth trying. The town is an interesting case, shared by Hungary and Slovakia and divided by the river. There's wifi in the rooms, but the bandwidth is limited, so if you're always online, a prepaid SIM or roaming package may suit you better. 4G coverage was okay.

It's a nice, fairly large campsite, but the cost is high for cyclists just stopping overnight. You have to pay for entry to the thermal baths as well, with no option to book only the camping spot. The showers were quite dirty and old, and there weren't any benches or tables for campers.

Cyclists on EV6 should know this is a very expensive campground. It cost €36 for two people and a small tent, and entry to the thermal baths is included in the price whether you want it or use it or not. If we'd known beforehand, we'd have stayed somewhere else. The showers had hair in them and mouldy curtains, and the hot water cylinders were empty in the evening, leaving lots of cyclists with cold showers. A very loud band played late into the evening too, so it wasn't peaceful.

We stayed over the Easter holidays, before the main season. The hotel is basic but pleasant, with free parking behind an electric gate. Usually two fluent English speakers are on duty from 7am to 7pm, then there's a night porter. Breakfast is included and has enough variety, though it's basic. The staff are lovely and helpful. Free wifi is standard, and it worked well once we set it up on arrival. The TV had more channels than we expected. We had a family room with two separate rooms, a bathroom and an entrance. The rooms were overheated, so we turned one radiator off and lowered the other in each room. My complaints are the uncomfortable beds and the echoing hallways, which get loud when guests arrive or leave. Cleaning was okay, though the bathroom could have been mopped or at least swept every couple of days. The thermal spa and swimming facilities are a short walk away. I'd recommend the place.
