Hotel Bodrog Wellness

The rooms were very clean and close to the spa. The wellness centre was thoughtfully arranged, with lots to enjoy, from a cold plunge that felt great to a huge hot tub and pool. A fantastic place for a couple or a family, and highly recommended if you're staying in Sárospatak!

The staff were kind, and we had a lovely holiday here, thanks! It was easy to get to the wellness area from our room through the corridor. There's a good range of saunas, plus a pool and fitness facilities for exercise. Breakfast was delicious, especially the eggs.

The location is perfect, though noisy, and I didn't feel the hotel offered good value for the money. It has been partly renovated, and our room was spacious and clean, but not spotless. There were cobwebs hanging from the ceiling vents and mildew in the shower. The air conditioning was noisy. Some staff were very friendly, while others weren't so much. The food was bland, boring, and not great quality. The bread and rolls were cheap and nasty, and the orange juice was nowhere near 100%. The spa felt small for a hotel this size and was quite full while we were there. Even on the adults-only weekend, it didn't feel quiet or relaxing. The music in the shared areas was awful, both the choice and the volume. I couldn't believe a four-star hotel had no bar. The only place to taste the owners' advertised champagne was the restaurant, which had no inviting atmosphere. We soon found out that “tasting” meant buying a whole bottle, since it wasn't available by the glass. I've never stayed in a hotel without a bar, let alone one where trying a drink meant purchasing a full bottle. We wouldn't choose to come back.

The hotel has a great location, beautiful wellness area, lovely staff, and large, clean rooms. Breakfast and dinner were excellent, and there's an elevator straight from the hotel to the bowling club. Still, nobody seemed to follow the spa rules. Kids ran from one sauna to another, which left the saunas cold. At €170 a night including half board and wellness, it's a shame parents kept taking their children from sauna to sauna just for fun. This place should be adult friendly. The outdoor whirlpool was nice, but cold, though it was warmer in the evening. The bathroom was small, like you'd expect in a 3-star hotel.
