The location is nice, but the panzio badly needs repairs and updating. The beds and mattresses were very old, and whenever my husband moved in our creaky bed, it woke the kids. There was a musty smell in the room and the WiFi was very weak. The bees in the bathroom were the worst part, especially with my mother's severe allergy. We arrived around 8 pm, put the children to bed, then noticed a few bees on the bathroom wall. They were beginning to build a hive on the ceiling lamp. Since it was already around 9 pm, I shut the bathroom door and told my mother not to go in alone. The next morning my husband asked reception to handle it. Staff came with spray and a vacuum, and we asked them to take down the lamp where the bees were nesting. A few minutes later they said it was taken care of, but told us the bathroom window could never be opened. That didn't seem reasonable in a hot, bad-smelling bathroom. When I questioned whether that was really the best solution, they were rude. We eventually left and found somewhere else to stay.

The room was roomy at 40 sq m, with a big double bed and two singles for the kids. The toilet and kitchen were clean and had what we needed, including a microwave, kettle, and cups. I booked the wine option and it was worth it: we got two glasses of chilled Tokay with the hotel logo, and it was delicious. Parking is right by the room entrance, and you don't need a reservation.

We had a spacious, comfortable room, and fresh flowers were waiting for us. The bathroom could have used a more thorough clean, though. The guesthouse is right beside the castle on the banks of the Bodrog, so everything of interest in the city is easy to reach, and parking was free. It wasn't a bad stay, but a little more attention to detail would make it better.

Free, secure parking and a really central location made this our best choice so far, even after staying in hotels and motels. The bedding was comfortable, there was plenty of space, and the place was well equipped. The staff were friendly. In one word: perfect.
