Calendula Ayurvedic Medical Hotel

I was there for a medical examination, not as a hotel guest. The doctor and assistant treated me with care and kindness, and the receptionist was very polite and helpful. I can warmly recommend it.

I first went there for treatment in 2019, and the service was wonderful. The staff were professional, the food was healthy, and I couldn’t find anything to fault. I came back in 2025 and, now that I have something to compare it with, the place was terrible. Prices went up, professional staff were fired, and there seemed to be nobody to do the work. Two nurses were rushing around like brooms, and the food was far from Ayurvedic. They’d stopped giving baths. When I asked why, someone told me quietly it was expensive???? Is that normal? Massages were cut by half an hour. During a cleansing treatment, they didn’t finish the procedure and left me alone in the room. I understand, they probably had to rush off because there weren’t enough staff. When I felt I was about to lose consciousness, I went into the hallway for help, but the therapist spent more time talking than doing the job. The acupuncture wasn’t done by professionals. I never complain and I’ve never written a negative comment before. I like to talk about good things, but I came back from this vacation and treatment with a nervous breakdown. I’m writing this so people know where they’re going.

This is a medical institution, first of all. People come for treatment, not relaxation, so don’t expect restaurants or alcohol, because there aren’t any. The focus is on deep detox and treatment. If Ayurveda suits you and you don’t want to fly to India, you can find a piece of it here on the shores of Lake Balaton.

The staff were friendly across the board, from the nurses and receptionists to housekeeping, security, and the restaurant manager. The yoga, gymnastics, and massage instructors were top-notch, and the service felt very professional. At the Calendula Ayurveda Center in Siofók, Hungary, each patient gets an individual program based on the doctor’s recommendations. A typical day included a blood pressure check from 7:00 a.m., yoga from 7:30 to 8:30 a.m., breakfast, a doctor’s checkup, and individual therapies. Gymnastics, acupuncture, and other treatments were available when needed. In their free time, patients could enjoy salt water therapy, swimming, and more. The restaurant served healthy meals. The hotel was beautiful, tidy, and clean, with a pleasant atmosphere and a great vibe everywhere, even in the hallway decorations. It was an excellent stay and an unforgettable experience that relaxed body and mind. I highly recommend it.
