Relaxing was impossible because the owner was always around, along with his wife, dog, and mother. It felt like total surveillance. The location was messy.

We came with the family to have fun and enjoy a weekend, but if partying is the plan, avoid this place.

The place was a medium-sized tragedy, honestly. We booked the large terrace apartment. It had two bedrooms, each with its own shower and toilet, but you could only reach them through the rooms. Since it’s listed for 6+1 people, that means in the evening you have to decide which sleeping guests to disturb. We arrived at 4:00 PM, the earliest check-in, because they said it was being “cleaned” until then. The lady showed us around in a wet bikini. That made the cleaning claim seem a bit doubtful. We didn’t bring it up because peace felt preferable, and most of the problems were basic cleaning issues anyway. We also didn’t want the owner to be stingy with us during the stay. There weren’t enough plates, cutlery, or chairs for the table. They brought some after we mentioned it. Towels were only available if requested, so we asked. We got three, maybe four at most. The host had said in a reply to negative feedback that guests just need to ask and the towels are there, but there weren’t enough. I’d read a review, here or on a booking site, about an open service shaft by the pool. It was still open when we visited, and one of the decorative stones beside the pool stairs was loose. At the fire pit, they showed us a cauldron with dried-on food from whatever had been cooked in it. The apartment was a complete mess, and the cleaning was close to zero. With all that and the pictures, we can’t recommend it. I think that came across :D

The garden is lovely, and you can tell an older lady put her heart into it. It’s a shame about the discarded bottles and clutter here and there. The pool area also felt very accident-prone. There was a deep open manhole, an uncovered outlet pipe big enough for even my 46-foot young adult’s foot to fit into if he hadn’t watched where he was going, a loose poolside tile that tipped when stood on, and a raised paving slab one of us tripped over, causing quite a bit of bleeding. We felt the owners wanted the pool to be looked at rather than used. When the children jumped in, the owner spoke to us in an unqualified manner, and he said, a little more nicely but still not like a hostess, that if we jumped in he’d fill the pool with 16-degree water. The apartment could have been a decent size if it were kept in good condition. It wasn’t very clean, and the bathroom might have been nice after renovation, but none of its shelves or towel racks were usable. There was only one trundle wardrobe inside. The lampshade was broken, with wires showing underneath. The wardrobe at the bottom of the stairs was packed with household clothes and shoes, like a storage room. The owner, who never introduced himself, seemed to think it was normal to come into the apartment when he thought we were out. He apologized when we asked for the bill, but they wouldn’t have mentioned the extra bed missing from the top of the wardrobe if we hadn’t noticed. The attic apartment’s air conditioning was 3,000 forints a day, which honestly would have covered almost a month’s expenses. Tourist tax was 550 HUF, even though Szállás.hu advertised 400 HUF. 3300 HUF isn’t much, but collected from everyone it adds up. The parking area inside the gate was so small that if two cars parked as the owners intended, one couldn’t fit because of the stone wall at the end. The paving stone there was broken too, so the parking space wasn’t fully usable. The owner tried to be nice, but we had a hard time forgetting his wife’s instructions on the first day.
